Maddie is caught in a vicious cycle of doing outlandish things to get attention and then feeling rejected when that attention turns out to be negative. She says she doesn’t care, but deep down she would give anything to feel truly loved. Underneath the exterior that screams that she wants to be her own person, she longs to belong to something worthwhile and know that she has a purpose in life. She always feels like there’s some truth that’s just beneath the surface…just out of reach.
Maddie is the middle child five, with twin younger brothers and two older sisters, Sarah and Stephanie. Maddie, a sophomore, and Stephanie, a senior, have an ongoing feud and seem to hate each other most of the time. Stephanie is really popular, a cheerleader—and from Maddie’s point of view—the ultimate poser. And even though their parents mean well, Maddie really can’t relate to anyone in her family. But where there’s a desire to know the truth, it always seems to surface…
